Omega-3 essential polyunsaturated fatty acids have distinct chemical structures and physiologic functions that distinguish them from other families of essential fatty acids. EPA and DHA are abundantly enriched in the retina, brain, and heart tissues.5-7 Each have preferential distribution within the phospholipid bilayer of cell membranes and have been shown to exert unique biological actions.4
Humans have limited capacity to endogenously produce EPA and DHA; therefore they are considered essential fatty acids. Dietary supplementation of EPA and DHA is an effective way to increase intake of these essential fatty acids.

A: The sustainably harvested fish within the products include: Sardina plichardus (pacific sardine), Engranlis ringens (Pacific anchovy), and Trachurus symmetricus (mackerel), which are caught in the clean, cold waters off the coast of Peru. These fish species are members of the herring family and they are caught using the purse seine method whereby nets as long as 1200 feet and as deep as 40 feet are deployed from the main ship and a smaller ship pulls one end of the net towards the main ship, enclosing the schooling fish in a circle.
